  • Gods and Goddesses. This year, NSCC’s Office of Student Engagement (OSE) will be offering four co-curricular programming events -- two this fall semester and two in the spring. The theme for this year is "Respect and Inclusion" (from the college’s Mission statement). The second co-curricular program, "Gods and Goddesses," is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8th in Danvers MS119 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. This event will focus on Hinduism, a religion as vibrant today as it was more than 3,000 years ago. Renowned Bharatnatyam dancer, Jayshree Bala Rajamani, will interpret the fascinating stories of the Hindu pantheon through her performance of Bharatnatyam.
  • Forum on Tolerance - Respect & Inclusion: Supporting the Struggles of our Immigrant Community. This year, the Forum on Tolerance will be held on Wednesday, November 1st and Thursday, November 2nd. The November 1st event will take place in Danvers DS119 from 10:30am to 12:30pm and the November 2nd event will take place in the Lynn Gym from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The Danvers event will feature a screening of the short documentary entitled, The Invisible Crisis: The Female Face of Forced Migration, about the migration of millions of women and their children from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to the U.S. The documentary will be screened for both class meeting periods. Afterward there will be an audience Q&A about the film. The Lynn event will feature keynote speaker Attorney Maria L. Santos, At the Heart of US Immigration—DACA, followed by a Q & A. Other speakers include MA District Director Rick Jakious from Seth Moulton’s office and NSCC student trustee, Fatima Jallow Nambouh, My Immigrant Story. There will also be a screening of the documentary, The Invisible Crisis: The Female Face of Forced Migration. Both events will feature resource tables and refreshments will be served.
